| About the Board , the code, etc. in the Video:
The board only serves one purpose - to ensure you aren't competing
with a video that was made sometime in the past (before you entered
this event). When entries open, an event code is generated for that
event. When you enter the event, a unique entry ID number is assigned
to your entry. You need to have BOTH of these on the board, although
EITHER of them will serve the purpose, since you can't guess what either
would be ahead of time.
In certain circumstances, such as the 2009 Fall Spectacular, we will
accept entries filmed at 3 different ABBI live events - Archdale, Sulphur Springs and
Stephenville. The board doesn't need to be present in these, since you
can see from the arena and the surroundings where and when it was filmed.
When judging, we are looking for the best bull - not
the best presentation of a white board or a nervous flank man, so as a judge you should not
call foul unless you believe the person made the video a long time ago
(before entries ever opened). I get many calls about whether this or
that entry should be DQ'd because of the board, etc. Don't be nitpicky.
Unless you have sound reason to believe the person is trying to cheat
by submitting an old video, don't worry about it. I haven't seen a cheating
attempt yet.
How long should I buck my bull?
ABBI time is 4 seconds. You need to be familiar with ABBI rules for
a standard live futurity, because they all apply.
When judging, you need to be looking at 4 seconds
of work after the bull leaves the chute. If someone's release doesn't
work and the dummy stays on longer than 4 seconds, just judge the entry
based on the first 4 seconds. That is better on the animal than requiring
them to buck him again.
