Making your Video for a VBBI Event

Each video entry for a VBBI event must contain some standard elements.

  1. A whiteboard must be visible in the background of the video, and at some point in the video, the board must be shown in such a way that everything written on it is clearly legible. The board must include the ENTRY NUMBER and the event VIDEO CODE, and NOTHING ELSE Both the entry number and the event video code can be found on your MYVBBI PAGE when you have an entry and the video submission is open.

  2. The video must show that ABBI livestock handling guidelines are followed (standard flanks, etc.) By submitting a video, all parties involved in making the video are also submitting an implicit statement that all ABBI livestock handling guidelines were followed.

  3. The video must be saved in a usable format. The following file extensions are allowed: *.mpg, *.wmv, *.mpeg, *.mov, *.rm, *.mp4, *.avi, *.ogg, *.mkv, *.m4v, and *.3gp

  4. The video file cannot be more than 5 megabytes in size, so be conservative in filming.

In making your video, keep in mind that it cannot be more than 5 megabytes in size when you are done. For that reason, you need to make it as short as possible while still containing all the required elements. By keeping the length of the video short, you can shoot for the best picture quality you can get and still be under the file size limit.

You need to shoot the video clip in a continuous sequence - no cutting away or editing the finished video so that there is a cut away in the middle. You can edit the video to remove excess footage from the beginning or end if necessary.

You can add a title screen if you wish, with the event's code and other required information, but keep it to less than 3 seconds if possible. If you use a title screen, you still need to have the whiteboard in the video where it can be seen in the same continuous sequence with the animal's performance.

A good idea is to affix the whiteboard with the required information either on the chute gate or right next to it so it can easily be seen in the video.
